Nemanja "nexa" Isaković's men managed to defeat FaZe in ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe 2-1 (16-14 Nuke, 11-16 Dust2, 16-12 Train) to claim their second victory in the league.
Two cousins butted heads as FaZe and G2 met in ESL Pro League, with Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač looking to power their respective teams to the win. In this ocassion, it was G2 that came out on top after three hard-fought maps, with huNter- topping the scoreboard with a 1.22 rating.
huNter-'s triple kill ensured the CT pistol went the way of G2 on Nuke, but FaZe struck back with a force buy and managed a strong T side, 9-6, on their map pick. Audric "JACKZ" Jug was the main man for G2 in the first half, showing his form with a trademark quad-kill ramp-hold in round nine, and continued to cause issues in the second half. The 27-year-old found six first kills on the map as G2 mounted the comeback on the offensive side, using a mixture of Yard splits and well-coordinated A executes, stealing Nuke away 16-14.
After a subdued Nuke, Håvard "rain" Nygaard kicked off Dust2 with a crisp USP-S 4K on the pistol, setting up FaZe for early success as CT (4-0). Kenny "kennyS" Schrub then picked up the AWP and G2 chained five rounds together, but FaZe bounced back as NiKo found success with the AWP himself. G2 attempted a comeback after locking down the B bombsite on the pistol, but Marcelo "coldzera" David's Deagle ace took out the wind from their sails. FaZe then pulled off a couple of A hits and closed out the map 16-11.
Just like on Dust2, a round won with just Deagles inspired FaZe's T-side on Train, seeing them recover from an 0-3 start and tie the score. huNter- was on fire early on and stepped up to clutch a 1v2 in the next round, but FaZe kept it tight with a 2v5 won by Helvijs "broky" Saukants and coldzera. G2 managed to weather the storm and finished the half with a strong lead, 10-5, but Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer and co. were straight back into it after the switch.
As the score was 11-9 for the French-Serbian side, huNter- found a double entry and got his side on the roll again, pushing them to the edge of victory (14-10). A Mac-10-heavy B rush worked out for G2 to get them on map point, which they converted on to take a 2-1 series win.
